Aug. 21st – TEM Lab Adds New Team Members

With the recent development of AIF’s TEM Laboratory, a new team has been formed to meet the rapidly expanding needs. We are pleased to introduce our new team members and their responsibilities:

1.) Roberto Garcia, manager of the AIF Metallurgy Sample Preparation Lab, now joins the new TEM Laboratory. Roberto’s responsibilities include TEM sample Preparation Lab, JEOL 2000FX TEM, and Protochips Heating Holder. If you have needs for training, samples to test, or instrument/tool issues, please contact him.

Xiahan2.) Dr. Xiahan Sang, PhD (2012) in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, recently joined NCSU as a postdoctoral research scholar in AIF and Prof. Jim LeBeau’s group in the MSE Department. His responsibilities for AIF will include training new users, providing service, and routine maintenance for the S/TEM Titan Lab.

Jing-Li-Photo_100x1003.) Dr. Jing Li, a Research Associate in Prof. Beth Dickey’s Group. PhD (1994) in Materials Science and Engineering, Berlin University of Technology (Technische Universität Berlin). Dr. Li has been in Dr. Dickey’s group since 2006, accumulated a great expertise and experience in Electron Microscopy. Dr. Li will be working part time in the AIF facility and her responsibilities include providing service on the JEOL 2010F TEM, external projects, and answering users’ questions about data analysis, and helping to calibrate instrument as needed.
