Welcome Back, Wolfpack!

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the AIF’s primary goal has been the safety and well-being of our staff and users. By exhibiting appropriate caution and implementing and re-evaluating access policies and procedures throughout the pandemic, we have been able to keep the labs open and operating at maximum allowable capacities, which allows us to support your research and education activities.

Due to the increasing threat of the COVID-19 virus, NC State is requiring that all staff, faculty, and students who return to campus after winter break submit a negative COVID-19 test result (original announcement here with additional information including testing locations here).

As we enter 2021, to keep our shared spaces a safe environment for everyone, the AIF is aligning our access policies with those of the university – that all staff, internal users, and external users who request access to the facility submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

Internal users (i.e., home organization is NC State) who wish to enter AIF spaces after winter break must submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3-5 days before their return to campus. This proof can be the same proof that the user submits to fulfill the university requirement. NC State is still finalizing the process for submitting test results to the university, so the following AIF procedure is subject to change. Unless we communicate otherwise, the procedure will be to email a copy of the test results to aif-contact@ncsu.edu with the subject: TEST RESULTS.

For any approved external users (i.e., home organization is not NC State) who wish to gain physical access the facility in 2021 are also required to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken 3-5 days prior to re-entering AIF spaces. Unless we communicate otherwise, the procedure will be to email a copy of the test results to aif-contact@ncsu.edu with the subject: TEST RESULTS.

These new procedures will help us to maintain safe shared spaces for our users and staff and, with continued success, will allow us to maintain maximum operational capacity in the AIF labs that support your research and education activities.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or require any clarity on this policy. Questions can be directed to aif-contact@ncsu.edu.
