AIF is Hiring! TEM Laboratory Manager Opening

The Analytical Instrumentation Facility (AIF) has an immediate opening for a TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) Lab Manager. All applications will be reviewed immediately.

Essential Job Duties

The AIF supports a wide variety of physical sciences research and education programs at NC State and within the Research Triangle Region. The position will have primary responsibility for management and operation of the TEM facilities in the AIF, which currently houses a probe-corrected and monochromated FEI Titan G2 STEM/TEM, an Thermo Fisher Scientific Talos F200X Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (S/TEM), and a JEOL 2000FX TEM and auxiliary equipment, including energy dispersive x-ray spectrometers, a range of in situ holders, electron energy loss spectrometers, CCD cameras and an extensive sample preparation laboratory. The Laboratory Manager will oversee the training, maintenance/calibration, educational, outreach and user-base development activities of the TEM facility and will assist users in performing advanced microscopy, when needed.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$70,000 – $85,000

Minimum Education/Experience

Requires possession of post-baccalaureate credentials or a comparable record of independent research productivity.

Departmental Required Skills

– Experience with vacuum technology, electronics, and computers.
– Strong interpersonal, communication and management skills are essential
