Roberto is AIF’s Operations Manager and has led a successful effort in combining and documenting the EH&S internal required training modules. Utilizing Reporter, training records are documented and employees/students gain access to equipment only when all required training modules are completed. This is a good model for controlling access to hazardous material, equipment, and processes, making sure that users are informed of the hazards and risks in their work environment and have proper training before using/accessing hazardous material and equipment.
Roberto has always maintained an open communication channel with EH&S regarding safety training and space safety requirements. He also initiated SOPs for high hazard processes and required graduate students to run it by EH&S and seek EH&S approval before starting the process. This effort resulted in development of well written SOPs that were later shared with other groups and ultimately became the template for the current SOP template on the EH&S web page.
